Warehouse Digitalization with Rugged Mobile Terminals: Enhancing Efficiency, Accuracy, and Real-time Visibility
Warehouse operations rely on accurate data capture, timely task execution, and system visibility. Manual recording and outdated scanning tools often create bottlenecks, resulting in slow inventory turnover, delayed order fulfillment, and increased human error.
A distribution warehouse recently deployed FARSET handheld PDAs across receiving, put-away, inventory counting, replenishment, picking, and outbound verification. Workers used integrated barcode and RFID scanning, Android-based WMS applications, and wireless data synchronization to connect frontline execution with backend systems in real time.
During receiving, products were scanned using 1D/2D barcode modules to verify quantities against purchase orders. Put-away tasks were instantly routed to staff terminals, guiding location assignment and preventing misplacement. For inventory counting and replenishment, handheld terminals supported dynamic cycle counts and quantity updates directly within the WMS database, eliminating paper-based discrepancies. In outbound processes, picking labels were scanned for order verification before packing and dispatch, significantly reducing shipment errors.
The deployment resulted in increased data accuracy, higher productivity, and improved traceability across the supply chain. With enterprise-grade durability, wireless connectivity, and long operating endurance, FARSET handheld PDAs enabled reliable field execution in demanding warehouse environments.
This warehouse mobility case demonstrates how industrial handheld terminals serve as the key enabler bridging system data and frontline execution, accelerating warehouse digital transformation and operational visibility.
